Using Multimedia Tools for Teaching & Learning

Technology tools are one way to expose children effectively to the process of active learning. It was found that “the structure and resources of traditional classrooms” are often inadequate and that “technology – when used effectively – can enable ways of teaching that are much better matched to how children learn”. While many studies of technology use in the classroom have reported mixed results, the largest gains seem to occur when technology tools are used to teach science and mathematics (Roschelle et al.) .

Current multimedia technologies allow students to interact with information in new ways, change content, and even create their own visualizations. Such interactivity enables a wide variety of users to access content.

Scientists routinely use a number of technology tools in their daily practice, including virtual laboratories and simulations, models of scientific phenomena, and collaborative tools such as e-mail, video conferencing, and online collaborative knowledge bases such as wikis.

Students can use Internet and multimedia tools provided to work under expert supervision, like scientists; by collaborating with their peers, modeling scientific processes, conducting virtual experiments, and actively participating in research with scientists locally and around the world.

We have a large collection of multimedia, content software and video/ audio presentations, which could effectively be used in digitized class rooms and Audio-Visual auditorium.

Grades I to VI have in house computers and video displays networked to the server, loaded with the content software and other audio-visual learning materials, which could readily be accessed by the teachers.
